Meet The Creator of Samana Health!
Welcome to Samana Health!
Joy Daniels Luria brings a wealth of knowledge and experience of many different modalities of the healing arts. Joy has been on the quest for knowledge of health and wellness from an alternative view all of her life.
She was informally introduced to the principles of Ayurveda under the guidance of Guru Chandra, in her early teens. After experiencing first hand the healing benefits of this ancient practice through her 6 year internship, Joy sought formal education from Dr. Vasant Lad, at the Ayurvedic Institute in New Mexico. In conjunction with her Ayurvedic training, Joy did an herbal internship under Dr. Kevin Spelman. She then moved to Miami in 2000, where she had a private Ayurvedic practice.
During her private practice she realized people did not have the time or sometimes desire to prepare truly healing meals to nourish their bodies, so she began an Ayurvedic Food Delivery Service. She then furthered her knowledge of the body's systems by studying midwifery at The International School of Midwifery. Joy worked at the Miami Maternity Center until 2006, where she had a store, practiced her midwifery, taught alternative medicine, and pre / post partum AyurYoga. In 2004, Joy fell in love with Homeopathy while utilizing its benefits personally during her own pregnancies. Her natural thirst for knowledge led Joy to get her Clinical Homeopathic Certification through The American Academy of Clinical Homeopathy, Inc. Joy received personal training and instruction under the late Luc Chaltin, founder of Newton Homeopathics. Since Luc's passing, Joy now works closely with Marjorie Roberts, the President of Newton Homeopathics.
In 2006, Joy began working on a patent with the intention of combining homeopathy with color cosmetics. Her goal was to produce not just an acceptable, non-toxic make-up, but a truly beneficial line. The Anila line was designed to create total wellbeing. A woman could put on her lip stick multiple times throughout the day knowing it was "coded" to tell her body to detoxify the organs and rejuvenate the body. The patent was approved in April 2015. Nearing the end of 2015 and no way to launch Anila, Joy's Homeopathic Color Cosmetic Line, she decided to turn back to her Ayurvedic roots. By customer request, she created, Aahana Organics, an Ayurvedically based, tri-doshic herbal skincare line. The multiple lines, all at client request, provide everything you'll need from start to finish for your daily cleansing and rejuvenating routine. Ayurveda may be 5,000+ years old, but Joy’s approach is novel. Truly, skin care as well as herbs have never been approached in such an all inclusive, narrow and broad manner all at the same time. After moving from Colorado back to Florida at the end of 2022, the realization of new state laws encouraged her to get her massage license (MA106727).
Joy is a knowledge seeker, a forever student and a practical teacher who aims to share all of the knowledge she's gained over the course of her life. Joy has a new company, Samana Health, which was set up to incorporate all of her offerings under one business. Joy is currently joining The Dasha Collective, 903 NW Sixth Ave, Gainesville, FL 32601. There she will be setting up an apothecary where clients will be able to purchase Newton Homeopathics, herbs, and her skincare line.
She offers bodywork as well as shirodhara (an Ayurvedic oil facial), however, Joy still recommends having your treatment at your home before bed. Ayurvedically, this is the most sound therapeutic method to receive your bodywork. The massage session she offers is based in the PanchaKarma techniques known as Abhyanga. This practice entails a two hour + treatment of oiling the body, addressing energetic blockages and rebalancing the doshas. Ayurvedic consultations are still available in person, by phone, FaceTime, or Zoom. Joy will also begin teaching product making classes as well as Ayurvedic classes at The Dasha Collective.
